The compact neutron spectrometer at ASDEX Upgrade.
The first neutron spectrometer of ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) was installed in November 2008. It is a compact neutron spectrometer (CNS) based on a BC501A liquid scintillating detector, which can simultaneously measure 2.45-MeV and 14-MeV neutrons emitted from deuterium (D) plasmas and γ radiation. The scintillating detector is coupled to a digital pulse shape discrimination data acquisition (DPSD) sys...
متن کاملModification of a Uv Spectrometer into a Neutron Detector Using Neutron-sensitive Scintillating Material
This report describes the design and development of a plastic scintillating high energy neutron detector to be implemented as a micro-class satellite payload. The primary function of this detector is to identify and characterize the energy distribution of solar accelerated neutrons resulting from massive solar events. Accelerated neutrons will be identified by a pulse counting system using the ...
متن کاملQuantitative Neutron Dark-field Imaging through Spin-Echo Interferometry
Neutron dark-field imaging constitutes a seminal progress in the field of neutron imaging as it combines real space resolution capability with information provided by one of the most significant neutron scattering techniques, namely small angle scattering. The success of structural characterizations bridging the gap between macroscopic and microscopic features has been enabled by the introducti...
متن کاملConcepts and Engineering Aspects of a Neutron Resonance Spin-Echo Spectrometer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology Center for Neutron Research
Following a brief introduction, the Neutron Resonance Spin-Echo (NRSE) principle is discussed classically in Sec. 2. In Sec. 3, two idealized 4-coil NRSE spectrometers are discussed (one using single π-flipper coil units and one using paired "bootstrap" coils); some idealized (exact π-flip) expressions are given for the spin-echo signal and some theoretical limitations are discussed. A more qua...
متن کاملA high performance graphene/few-layer InSe photo-detector.
We fabricated a graphene/few-layer InSe heterostructure photo-detector and solved a recurrent materials problem concerning degradation of ultra-thin atomic layers in air. This heterostructure has a largely enhanced performance explained by its fundamentally different mode of functioning with respect to the corresponding device without graphene.
